Work smarter not harder

Hello, my name is Paul Sprague
I am so happy to be here!  I go by Toolpig on most tool related sites and forums, Especially Instagram. I invite you to check my page out for the latest info on new tools as well as hands on feedback from actual jobsite use as well as quite a few tests thrown in here and there.

I have always been deeply fascinated with tools. When I was growing up I had to make do with very few  Power Tools while working with my Father and Grandfather. I can still feel the frustration that goes along with a meager arsenal of tools. I also feel the frustration that comes with buying what I thought was a great tool and finding out it was not so great.

I decided years ago to learn from other people’s mistakes and research before buying. Before the internet I asked fellow tradespeople which tools they liked and why. I still do but with the incredible amount of information available today, I check out what people from around the world say in seconds on my iPhone.

I want to be part of that overall voice that can be heard with a simple search. I have over 30 years of experience in the building trades, working with all types of power tools. I get what works and what doesn’t. I have a firm grasp on the qualities that make the difference between a tool that simply gets the Job done and one that actually makes work a pleasure. I constantly strive to find the very best in each category. This means that I am not stuck on any particular brand. I will use any brand if it is well made and the ergonomics are good. If a tool has good dust extraction then it has a much better chance of being at the top of my list.

It is my sincere hope that my reviews will help you to avoid frustration and make the decision making process easier when you are buying tools of your own

  1. Hello,

I am trying to find your post where you compared the TD148/XDT09 and the new Japanese version TD170D? Also, are there sites where you can by the “hulk” version?

  2. Great that you have a website too. keep up the good work. I really enjoy all your pictures and videos and of course the reviews on instagram. I definitely keep coming back here to check out new stuff

  3. I really need this millwakee impact so I can change my tires on my quad just like you did. I’m tired of bringing out the tool box to change my tires. Also it would be great at work to tighten down j-bolts and titen bolts. It would make life easier with it

  4. This new Milwaukee Fuel impact would be a nice addition to my current tool set. I am a Senior in college who is looking to expand my tool collection for my job once a graduate in a couple months, as Service Engineer for CNC mills and lathes. My Instagram handle is koyvanderleest. I really enjoy seeing all of the latest and greatest tools, tricks, and head to head competitions between tools. Thank you and keep up the great work!

  5. I posted in the wrong place for the giveaway, so here’s another go. I need those Milwaukee tools at home, because I can’t afford all the good things for work and home 😁 IG name shinymetalschad

  6. Hi Paul,
I really need this Milwaukee M18 impact since I had to throw away my cheap Harbor Freight impact that was useless. I need a good quality tool to add to my toolbox as I am a Milwaukee fan. This tool would make rusted bolts, lug nuts, and so many other things easier for me!

  7. I need this impact to compete with my Dewalt. I primarily use Dewalt but interested in stepping out and trying some of the other competitors on the market to see how they compare in my line of work.

  8. First off your page is awesome!! Love what you do and how you keep it real with all of your viewers in mind!! I would love the Milwaukee Impact for not only for work as but also for my off-road toys. I have never owned a Milwaukee drill, and I would love to give them a try! Thanks for the opportunity to win one!! Keep it going!! @Cincodekyle

  9. I have a question about makita circular saws. Specifically differences in two models the dhs680 v the xsh03z. What’s the differences?
