Bosch Js120 12v jigsaw

What a sweet sweet saw!

I am very happy to be able to both review and give one of these away!  This is not meant to be an in depth review yet.Rather it is just my early impressions which will be added to as I get more time with the saw.

After using this for a few weeks, I am very impressed with the build quality and performance. It is very solid and has plenty of power for most light to medium tasks. The noise and vibration levels are very good as well.

The saw is loaded with most of the features that have made Bosch jigsaws the standard by which jigsaws are measured. It features electronic variable speed, three position orbital action, barrel grip body, no mar sub base to protect your work, splinter guard and tool free blade changes.

It uses the same 12v/10.8v batteries that all Bosch compact 12v tools use. For a tool this powerful I recommend the 4.0 packs. The 2.0 works but the 4.0 packs have 2 sets of 3 cell banks to deliver more power to the motor at any given time as well as longer runtime.

As always, thank you for your support and feedback.

Can’t remember if I had left a comment, but this is a sweet jigsaw that I’d like to own. It would be nice to see Bosch market a larger array of tools in the local stores. The usual selection for 18v seems smaller than what other brands offer at least at big box.

Love your reviews! You’ve helped me make lots of wise decisions on purchasing tools! My makita arsenal is getting quite large, and I’ve started dabbling into festool as well. Have not had much luck with Bosch tools in the past. I had their drill, impact, and circular saw, all were louder, and weaker than my Dewalt 18v tools. I do love their speaker tho! I wouldn’t mind adding a 12v jigsaw to the mix tho! I have been looking for a good cordless one, since the barrelgrip makita isn’t available here yet.

    Thanks again!

Always love to read what other people think of the tools I’m researching. Keep it up Toolpig. Just bought the Bosch heated jacket and would like to see some battery options, perhaps a flat pack, to lose the bulk and make it easier to wear with a tool belt. Thanks!

I would like to see them make a benchtop (or free standing) planer or jointer. Dewalt has a planer, but reviews vary in whether they are good machines or not (snipe, dust collection, etc.). A quality entry level benchtop planer from Bosch would be great. A quality benchtop jointer would be amazing especially if they could get it to a size larger than other benchtops on the market which are usually 8-10″.

Would love to see Bosch do a track saw as well.

This little jigsaw looks great. Would love one.

This looks like a great little jigsaw. The barrel style grip is better than a high handle for maneuverability. I’d like to replace my corded DeWalt jigsaw.

I’d like to see Bosch come out with a hybrid battery and corded version of the GTS1031. Also it would be great to have add on table extensions like the Rousseau workstation that were as portable and easy to attach as the GTA500 stand.

Maybe a stronger batt. Seems like a tool that I’ve been waiting for.

Great feedback on the jigsaw. Good to know. I would like to see some LEd lighting and more ergonomic drills that compete power wise with The BiG dogs.

Sweet little saw for on the go cuts, seems nice.

That’s a great looking little jigsaw! I also think that Bosch should finally have their track saw enter the NA market.

My fathers old jigsaw broke, so hopefully I can add to my Bosch tool lineup and make this a replacement !

I would love to see a track saw from them, corded or cordless. I wish more companies would put out track saws in general.

Also a 7-1/4″ cordless circular saw. I don’t know how they can expect more people to use them versus Milwaukee, Makita, and DeWalt when their biggest cordless saw is only a 6-1/2″

Would love to expand my brands. Currently all dewalt and use the 18v jigsaw.
    Looks like a great tool!

Love your tool reviews! As far as what I’d like to see out of Bosch?… work lights would be awesome, as well as more brushless tools. Awesome giveaway, this looks like a solid jigsaw!

Bosch 12v tools (and even their 18v lineup) are very underrated compared to other manufacturers. One thing they seem to emphasize on in regard to their 12v tools is size and weight. For me, 12v tools get me through 80% of my tasks, so my number one priority when buying any 12v tool is compactness. They continue to do a great job in this category.

Nice little handy tool that would be a great addition to my tool box. Not to big but big enough to handle almost anything needed around the house. Thanks for the review.

I have most of the Bosch 12v tools and love them. Most of the time when I need a jigsaw a cordless one will work fine. It looks like another very well designed tool from Bosch.

This is a great addition to the toolbox. It’s compact and versitile. Great for small jobs or jobs without power. Love to have this!

I love this jigsaw but wish Bosch would have gone brushless. Great first impression. What do you think about using this jigsaw as a dedicated coping unit with a Collins coping foot?

You should review their new 12v LED light as well.

I only hear good things about that jiggy. powerful for a 12V tool and easy to handle. did you notice a power difference when using the 4.0 instead of the 2.0 ? does it have LED light like the corder big brother? @madman_us

  144. Bremon 10/04/2016 at 2:41 AM - Reply

Definitely brushless tools. With their strong reputation in concrete I think they should put out an SDS line (including Max) to remind Milwaukee and Dewalt who the king is! I also think Milwaukee needs a healthy amount of competition in lighting, I’d love to see some solutions from Bosch in that arena. @bremon14

  145. BSN (@KnarlyCarl) 10/04/2016 at 2:30 AM - Reply

I think Bosch should ramp up their brushless tools! Also they should make a brushless cordless circ saw that can be either blade right or blade left, you can configure it how you like!
Thanks for your work Paul, can’t wait for the outcome on this giveaway!

Do you have blades that you prefer with jig saws, I’ve got a Bosch with the t blades. Just curious, does Bosch have any tools for rebar tying?

  148. @shamrockremodeling 10/03/2016 at 10:24 PM - Reply

Hey Paul. Great job as always. I would like to Bosch get into led work lights. Bosch has top quality tools in every other area but I haven’t seen anything done in that category unless I just haven’t seen them. Thanks

That’s a nice little jigsaw. I most like that it is cordless and the barrel grip. I have a old Bosch corded non barrel grip that I’d like to replace with this one.
